your holiday in Italy:
  • When can you fly in a hot air balloon?
In Italy you can fly in a hot air balloon all year round, weather conditions permitting. In the summer months, you set off between 6 and 7 am, and in the winter months between 8 and 9 am. This is because in the morning the air is more stable therefore hot air balloon flights are safer.
  • How long does the ride last?
For a hot air balloon experience in Italy, you should set aside about 4 hours, 1 hour of which is for the actual ride.
  • Is it cold on a hot air balloon flight?
The temperature in the air is similar to that on the ground.
  • What should you wear?
Casual wear and trainers or rubber-soled shoes.
  • Is it dangerous to fly in a hot air balloon?
This is like asking if it is dangerous to travel by car. It is all relative. However, a hot air balloon flight is still the safest kind of flight in the world. In fact, hot air balloons respect very high safety standards, in addition to the indications that the pilot must always follow, like flying first thing in the morning (when the air is more stable).
  • What height does it reach?
In Italy in the city of Ferrara, the air spaces are free except for a couple of small areas. You fly at between 200 and 400 m, so as to get the best view of Ferrara and its province.
  • Where do you fly?
At Balloon Flight in Italy we fly over the city of Ferrara, the "Delizie Estensi" monuments and the Po Delta.
  • Do you feel dizzy?
You do not generally feel dizzy. When you ride in a hot air balloon you feel completely safe and contained.
  • How many people can get into a hot air balloon?
3-4 people can get into each hot air balloon + the pilot, but group flights can also be organised with hot air balloons for up to 16 people or by using more than one hot air balloon.
  • Where do you take off from?
From an airport or any grassy field.
  • Can you fly when pregnant?
Pregnant women are not allowed, as rough landings cannot be fully excluded.
